What Is The Treatment?
Sclerotherapy is a procedure used to eliminate red and blue spider veins that appear on the legs. The treatment involves an injection of a sclerotherapy solution directly into the vein. This irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to collapse and stick together and the blood to clot.
How Does The Procedure Work?
The Sclerotherapy solution causes the blood to coagulate, forcing blood to reroute through healthier veins. The collapsed vein is reabsorbed into local tissue and eventually fades. After the treatment the treated veins tend to fade within a few weeks, occasionally it may take a month or more to see the full results. Occasionally several sclerotherapy treatments may be needed.
